June 13, 2009According to the state news agency IRNA the incumbent president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
won most the votes and that means he secured his victory.
With almost 90 percent of ballot boxes counted, Ahmadinejad won 65% of the vote.
His main challenger, former premier Mir Hossein Mousavi got only 32 percent
Reformist former parliament speaker Mehdi Karroubi, another contender, and former head of the elite Revolutionary Guards Corps, Mohsen Rezai, got only 3 percent.
